Captain Compost

Updated: Nov 3, 2021

ONLINE EVENT!

Captain Compost has been using song, dance and drama at the Wollongong Botanic Garden to teach children about the bugs, beetles and creepy crawlies of the compost for years – now he’s going to livestream for the 2021 Global Learning Festival on behalf of Wollongong City Council!

By the end of the event, students will be able to describe nature’s way of recycling and explain the importance of compost in reducing waste in our environment. Captain Compost will engage and entertain your students whilst covering:

  • An introduction to chemistry: the elements of carbon and nitrogen and the ratio needed for composting.

  • The little inhabitants of the compost: bugs, beetles and other creepy crawlies that help to breakdown waste.

At the end, there will be a short Kahoot Quiz that asks questions about Composting – will your class come out on top?!

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO TO PREPARE FOR THIS EVENT?
